Situated in the heart of Alameda at 1500 Webster St, Cafe Jolie is a charming French-American restaurant that effortlessly captures the essence of a delightful brunch and breakfast destination. This quaint eatery artfully blends the sophistication of French cuisine with the hearty comforts of American classics, inviting diners to indulge in a menu teeming with carefully curated, memorable dishes.
From the first bite, Cafe Jolie’s offerings convey a passionate dedication to flavor and authenticity. Imagine savoring the delicate yet irresistibly crisp Beignets dusted in powdered sugar, which perfectly balance lightness with a comforting sweetness. Equally compelling is their Farm Egg Omelette, an elevated take on a breakfast staple, bursting with freshness and rich, velvety eggs. The Stuffed Cinnamon French Toast adds a hint of warming spice and decadence that feels like a loving nod to French patisseries.
Diners seeking more substantial fare will appreciate the expertly crafted Crab Cake Benedict and the savory elegance of the Croque Madame, a classic French sandwich elevated with creamy béchamel and a perfectly cooked egg. For those drawn to lighter, artisanal bites, the Salmon Rillette is a standout—fresh and smoked king salmon blended with aioli and preserved lemon, served alongside crusty baguette slices that deliver the ideal crunchy contrast.
The ambiance at Cafe Jolie enhances the dining experience with an inviting, art nouveau-inspired charm. French posters adorn the walls, creating a cozy yet vibrant atmosphere that sparks an immediate sense of place and cultural authenticity. It's an intimate setting bustling just enough on weekends to amplify the lively, warm vibe without feeling overwhelmed. Guests often note how the friendly and attentive staff contribute to a seamless brunch experience, balancing efficiency with personal warmth.
Notably, the drink selections, like their expertly brewed Cappuccino and the lush, smooth Matcha Latte, elevate each meal. As one satisfied customer put it, the matcha was “the best I’ve had in a long time,” underscoring the meticulous care poured into every cup.
With dishes like the hearty Steak & Eggs and the intriguingly spiced Moroccan Couscous featuring chickpeas, eggplant, and harissa, Cafe Jolie offers a range that suits both traditionalists and adventurous palates. The thoughtful assembly of hors d’oeuvres—from thyme-rubbed baguettes to spiced almonds and stuffed piquillo peppers—hint at a kitchen equally skilled at small plates as it is at main courses.
Cafe Jolie is more than just a spot to grab breakfast; it’s a place to savor meticulously crafted flavors in a setting that feels both authentically European and warmly local. Its modest, well-edited menu emphasizes quality over quantity, ensuring every dish delights the senses without overwhelming choice. Whether you’re starting your day with smoky salmon, indulging in rich French onion soup, or enjoying a leisurely brunch with friends, this gem in Alameda promises a brunch experience that resonates long after the last bite.
We are visiting from Kansas and were delighted to have found this cute restaurant for brunch. A very friendly but busy waitress seated and took our order and it arrived within a very short wait. the omelet and sandwich were both beautiful and delicious. We can't wait to return and try the burger. It has a small menu and open 9-1 weekdays but very enjoyable atmosphere to have a fantastic brunch
Absolutely amazing breakfast spot! I had the avocado toast and French onion soup, and both were absolutely fantastic—fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. My husband ordered the vegetarian omelet, which was perfectly cooked and full of flavor. To top it all off, the matcha tea was outstanding—smooth, rich, and the best I’ve had in a long time. Highly recommend this place for anyone who loves delicious food and warm service!
Art neavau brunch vibe with french posters. Breakfast until 2pm on weekends. Popular but a lot of tables. I enjoyed the classic eggs Bene, bit my partner thought the crouque monsieur was missing a decent cheese to give it taste. County potatoes were great. Service was fast and courteous.
